BOSTON--The three Massachusetts Institute of Technology students who have been barred by a court order from discussing subway card vulnerabilities are now free to say what they want.

In a ruling certain to be cheered by computer researchers, a federal judge here Tuesday let the 10-day-old gag order expire. U.S. District Judge George O'Toole Jr. refused to grant a preliminary injunction requested by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority that would have blocked the students from talking about their findings until January 1, 2009.

Driver 177.89 - Open GL 3.0 - Siggraph 2008

The Windows 177.89 Drivers available via the links below, released during Siggraph 2008, enable the latest features including OpenGL 3.0 support. This special page allows direct access to the new drivers for Siggraph attendees -- the drivers will become part of the standard release NVIDIA Graphics drivers in the days immediately following. To enable/disable OpenGL 3.0 features, please use the latest nvemulate tool.

OpenGL 3.0 beta driver release notes
This driver is aimed at developers to start coding to the new OpenGL 3.0 and GLSL 1.30 features. These features are not enabled by default. They can be enabled using the nvemulate utility.

You need one of the following graphics cards to enable the OpenGL 3.0 and GLSL 1.30 functionality.

Desktop: GeForce 8000 series or higher; GeForce GTX 260, 280; Quadro FX 370, 570, 1700, 3700, 4600, 4700x2, 5600
Notebook: GeForce 8000 series or higher; Quadro FX 360M, 370M, 570M, 770M, 1600M, 1700M, 2700M, 3600M, 3700M

This driver implements all of GLSL 1.30 and all of OpenGL 3.0, except for the following functionality:
* One-channel (RED) and two-channel (RG) textures
* Mixed size FBO attachments (mixed-format attachments are supported)
* The Clearbuffer API
* Windowless rendering support (We suggest you use GPU affinity instead)
* Forward-compatible context
* Debug Context

This driver exposes the following new extensions:

OpenGL 2.1 extensions:
* ARB_vertex_array_object
* ARB_framebuffer_objectARB_half_float_vertex

OpenGL 3.0 extensions:
* WGL_create_context
* ARB_draw_instanced
* ARB_geometry_shader4
* ARB_texture_buffer_object
* WGL_create_context

The OpenGL 3.0 and GLSL 1.30 specifications can be downloaded here. For any bugs or issues, please file a bug through the developer website.

We've been asked about this for a long time, we've had fans pleading with us for some sort of announcement or information. Well, today is the day!

We're very pleased to announce that "Duke Nukem 3D for Xbox LIVE Arcade" will be coming to your Xbox 360 console soon!

As has been reported around the net today, we can confirm that the game has indeed passed final certification with Microsoft on Friday the 15th of August (on our first try, no less). That means the game is done - it is now in the hands of Microsoft. At this time we cannot give you details on release date or points cost, as we do not have that information. There's plenty of really cool stuff in this new update to a classic title. While we're not quite ready to divulge everything yet, we can tell you this.

When does comfort matter? When your legs are asleep but your hands are still moving. When you're the last one at the office getting that report ready. Or when you get home later that night and you're typing that long e-mail.

That's when you need our highest level of comfort—the Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro. According to independent scientific studies, the Logitech Wave Keyboard improves comfort.* So you can do more, more comfortably.

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The serial ATA interface is doubling its maximum data rate to support transfers up to 6 Gbits/second. The group marshalling the spec has also started a logo program to help ensure interoperability among the expanding group of hard, optical and solid-state drives using the link.

The Serial ATA International Organization (SATA-IO) officially ratified its physical layer specification for 6 Gbit SATA which should be posted at its Web site soon. The full SATA version 3.0 standard should be available before the end of the year.
